Prepare the Production System for Manufacturing Scale-Up
Preparing for an NPI launch requires more than completing the final pilot build. The technical definition must be released, the required production resources established, materials coordinated to expected demand, and technicians prepared to execute the build consistently.

Finalize & Release the Production Package
PEKO works with the OEM team to confirm that the technical package reflects the configuration intended for production. That can include finalizing and releasing drawings, BOMs, specifications, work instructions, inspection requirements, test procedures, approved component information, and other manufacturing documentation.
Open changes from prototype or pilot builds are incorporated as appropriate before release. Once approved, the production package is maintained under revision control so manufacturing, sourcing, assembly, quality, and test functions are working from the same technical definition.
Plan Manufacturing Capacity
PEKO evaluates expected production demand against the resources required to support it. Capacity planning can account for machining and fabrication requirements, assembly hours, available equipment, tooling, test resources, labor requirements, technician skill sets, floor space, shift availability, and other constraints that may affect the required build rate.
Where a gap exists between current resources and forecast demand, PEKO can identify the additional equipment, labor, tooling, space, or scheduling changes required before or during ramp.
Coordinate Supply & Material Requirements
Production quantities place different demands on the supply chain than pilot builds. PEKO can translate forecast requirements into material plans, coordinate purchased components and supplier capacity, address long-lead or sole-source items, plan inventory, manage approved substitutions, and align purchasing activity with scheduled production.
Set Up the Production Cell & Train Technicians
Once production requirements for the NPI launch are defined, PEKO can prepare the physical manufacturing environment for the program. That may include establishing assembly or manufacturing cells, positioning workstations and equipment, staging tooling and fixtures, preparing test resources, and organizing the build area around the intended production flow.
PEKO also assigns technicians based on program requirements and provides product-specific training before they are added to the production team. Technician qualification and competency tracking help transfer build knowledge from NPI personnel into a workforce capable of supporting recurring production.
Stabilize Production Performance During Ramp
Once the production system is in place, PEKO can begin scaling production while evaluating how the manufacturing operation performs as recurring build quantities increase.
Production results provide visibility into the factors that affect cost, quality, and delivery, including labor requirements, rework, cycle time, material usage, yield, inspection and test results, supplier lead times, manufacturing capacity, throughput, and schedule performance.
Where constraints emerge, PEKO can address the underlying issue through process changes, tooling or fixture updates, sourcing actions, technician support, or other program-specific adjustments. Approved changes can then be incorporated into the controlled manufacturing package so subsequent builds reflect the current product and process configuration.
The objective is to bring the production operation toward a more consistent and predictable state as output increases.
Establishing Full-Scale Production
The output of a successful NPI launch and manufacturing scale-up is a production system capable of supporting the required volume with greater consistency, control, and predictability.
By this stage, PEKO and the OEM should have established scalable manufacturing processes and the operating conditions required for recurring production, including:
- a stable production schedule and build cadence
- repeatable assembly and manufacturing processes
- released and controlled production documentation
- known material requirements and an established supplier base
- sufficient manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and test capacity
- trained technicians and defined build responsibilities
- understood yield, rework, and quality performance
- consistent build records, configuration control, and traceability
At that point, the product is no longer being managed as a launch-stage build. It has been transferred into a more stable production environment that can support ongoing manufacturing requirements.
PEKO can continue supporting the program through contract manufacturing, allowing the production infrastructure, supplier relationships, documentation, trained workforce, tooling, and manufacturing history established during launch to remain with the product.
