Test Technician


SUMMARY: The primary role of the TEST TECHNICIAN is to complete Factory Acceptance Testing in a production environment on final builds as well as support NPI (New Product Introduction). The Test Technician will help with the development testing needs, diagnose issues, document results, and with finding and troubleshooting problems.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for machine control startup, debugging, calibration and verification.
  • Test newly manufactured and assembled equipment consisting of complex electromechanical systems.
  • Use specialized measuring, diagnostic devices and standard and custom software to evaluate functionality and proper sequence of machine control systems to an established test procedure

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Electrical/Mechanical theory and practices, including testing, calibration and/or alignment of sensors, switches, actuators, pneumatics, motion control systems, machine alignments for proper function.
  • Computer hardware/software maintenance methods and techniques and network connection.
  • NEC standards and state codes.
  • NFPA Arc-Flash safety regulations.
  • Need to be able to read and understand electrical schematics and annotated PLC programs.
  • Working with wires, using hand tools and handling small components requires manual dexterity.
  • Observation skills need to be able to look at electrical controls and evaluate the system for problems in a logical and systematic manner, making certain components are installed correctly and are safe to operate.
  • Defining problems, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
  • Capable of using power and hand tools.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Associates degree in Electrical Engineering Technology Required
  • Entry level or up to 2 years’ experience working as an electrical technician
