Commodity Buyer


SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of a Commodity Buyer is to source selection and procurement functions directly associated with PEKO's needs for indirect materials and services. They coordinate scheduling of receipt and inventory control of the products and services as assigned consistent with Syteline system requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Initiates purchase orders as required for electrical & mechanical components, perishable tooling, MRO supplies, raw materials and general job shop needs.
  • Places purchase orders in an ISO environment with our current supplier base using our ERP system.
  • Ensures coordination with internal departments and assures timely execution of products & services.
  • Expediting of current orders
  • Handles any needed accounting review of invoices and packing slips.
  • Ability to manage heavy daily contact with vendors.
  • Coordinates as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers.
  • Interviews and consults with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics. inventory control and management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Ability to conduct precise and detailed communications.
  • Mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Displaying responsibility, ownership, a sense of urgency for all issues regarding purchased material and services.
  • Ability to multi-task in a complex work environment

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or minimum 2 years of purchasing materials in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experienced with Syteline preferred.
