CNC Machine Programmer


SUMMARY: The primary role of the CNC mill machine programmer is writing programs to support precision machining and analyzing drawings and specifications to determine optimal tooling and machine processes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Create programs to produce quality parts maximizing and maintaining efficiency at 90% uptime.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, work orders to determine optimal tooling and machine processes.
  • Determine tool path, speeds, and feeds for program efficiency and maximized tool life.
  • Develop and maintain detailed tooling and set-up requirements.
  • Consults with supervision and engineering to exchange technical information and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with machine operator to ensure that computer programs produce parts that meet engineering specifications.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of various 3+ axis mill machines and controls.
  • Experience with programming software and programming from 3D models.
  • Strong working knowledge of G-code or similar.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  • GED/High School plus machine operator and/or two years machining
  • 3-5 years of program experience preferably in Gibbs or Mastercam a plus
